Altering the story for practicality

Whilst preparing our film shoot and arranging actors for our film we encoutered a problem. The main actor for our film who we based the main character off was unable to commit to the shooting schedule we had arranged and ultimately dropped out of the role. We struggled to replace him with a suitable stand in which would fit the age and demenour of the character we envisioned for the role. Intially we had hoped for someone who looked of age 25-40 as the main character had lost his long term partner and for this to be believable we needed someone who looked mature and of age to fill the role.
After failing to secure an actor who could fit this role to meet our filming deadline we went back and altered the story of our film changing the main character from an adult who had lost their wife to a young adult/teenager who had lost their mother. We now had more actors we could use who were from 16-19 to use for the role and we could still incoperate the themes of alcohol dependancy into our story with some believability.
